Parks System Map
The Frisco Parks and Recreation Department in Frisco, Texas, contacted us about producing a system map showing their many resources. This public map included community, neighborhood, and special-use parks, facilities, and trails and greenways. The map was built from current geographic (GIS) data procured from the city; this guaranteed that city street and feature information was current and accurate.
The map was published as a two-sided brochure. The other side included photographs and information about parks, trails, and facilities.
A year later Frisco Parks and Recreation returned with a request to create detailed maps of four popular community parks.
Each park’s layout was mapped using satellite imagery. Soccer fields, tennis courts, baseball diamonds, a disc golf course were shown in a visually realistic way. Pictorial symbols were also employed to quickly reference the activities on the map. These page-sized full-color maps were printed and distributed at the parks and at other Parks & Recreation and city facilities.
Our completed maps were GIS-enabled. This allows for easier updates in the future. It also allows us to share our maps with the city’s GIS department, a free benefit that can integrate the data needs of the department and the city.
